Did you hear that? That was the sound of New York Fashion Week zip, zip, zipping by! In all the excitement surrounding the back-to-school prep, we somehow missed NYFW! From September 8th through the 14th it was ON in New York, friends. We would be remiss if we didn’t talk at least a little bit about these epic seven days in the fashion world, and although we are JUST BARELY into fall (ok, we’re not really, fall doesn’t actually happen for another 6 or 7 days) NYFW was allllll over…wait for it…
Spring 2017! [please insert shocked face emoji here]
Yes, spring has sprung in the fashion world, and if you’ve been following along with the NYFW news, you’ll have had a first look at what we can expect next year. If you’re like us and in need of a full roundup of what you’ve missed, well keep reading, so you too can be in the loop.
There are interactive websites with really cool features AND THEN there is the NYFW website, taking front row at the runway shows to a whole other level! There’s a pretty good chance you, like us, were not in attendance at the hottest designer runway shows this season (although if you were, please, PLEASE get in touch and let us know your experiences!) but through the magic of the internet, you can watch Every. Single. Show. from the comfort of your computer. Actual magic. Watch the shows in real time, pause on specific looks or to get a closer look at outfits, hair, makeup, and accessories. So much fun.
And, a small warning: if you DO settle in to watch, be prepared to be mesmerized, and to lose more than a few hours to high fashion, stunning models, and interesting music. Not that we would know, no, not at all! (ok, yes)
If you don’t have hours and hours to kill watching every show and scrutinizing every look, well turn to our favourite online magazines for all the highlights.
InStyle brings us best looks from the runways, with a roundup of favourite and up-and-coming designers. They also look at street style, and of course, all the best of the celebrity sightings – at the shows and beyond. Because while the runway shows are all about what’s coming, we all know that the celebrity sightings are all about what is (and who is) hot right now.
For NYFW, InStyle was in hyperdrive mode, so there is a LOT of information on that site right now. Lots to look at, lots to read, and if you want to get caught up on basically everything from last week, this is the site where you can most definitely find it all.
Just like with the celebrities at Fashion Week bringing us the latest looks and styles, Fashion Week brings out the best in other attendees as well. Think style and beauty bloggers, and models and actors who may just be on the cusp of fame. Sometimes these are the fashion risk takers and trendsetters, and if you’re looking for looks that are cutting edge, look to the street style stars, as PopSugar calls them. Some fantastic looks here, loads of inspiration as we get deeper into the autumn season.
Elle has it going on for us too with their standout runway moments, as well as best hairstyles (yes!) with a how-to guide for getting those hair looks! (seriously, what would we do without our mag friends?) They also look at best nails, best shoes and best accessories from the runway. Get up close and personal with these looks in their galleries that feature dozens of photos. They also have a celebrity roundup from the various shows, and a really comprehensive street style section too.
Finally, Harper’s Bazaar rounds up their favourite hair, makeup, and manicure moments for us from this year’s FW shows. It’s a small but mighty gallery with stunning photos that will give you those “I want to have that” feels.
Whew. What did we miss? There is so much to cover during and after fashion week, it’s hard to stay on top of it all. And just when you think you’re done, well guess what?
London Fashion Week started today.
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone! See you back here Tuesday.
