Party Time! Fashion Inspiration for the Festive Season

We are back for another edition of the Willow Salon blog for this Tuesday! We hope you had a great weekend and if you weren’t able to get Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You out of your head for the entire time, well…we’re sorry…you know, kind of sorry (not actually sorry).

Today we are keeping the holiday train a-runnin’ with more from the festive season, and this time we’d like to feature party clothes for you all.

Now, you likely have a few events to attend over the next few weeks, and maybe you’ve got a go-to in the form of a little black dress (the LBD, always a solid choice) a suit you save for the holidays (maybe with a festive tie or other accessory?) or something else that is your tried and true. It’s comfortable, it’s classic, it’s you.

If you’re one of the many who are stressing over what to wear and when, well there are a lot of resources out there with advice, ideas, combinations, festive add-ons, and much much more.

Let’s start with one of the biggies: the office holiday party.

If you work in a large office, or even a small one, this can be a tricky one to figure out. This is largely due to the fact that office parties often occur right after work  which doesn’t allow for that whole “go home, get changed and get ready to get your party on” kind of thing.

If you’ve got limited time between shutting down your computer and making your way over to where the party is happening, take a look at Holiday Dressing Decoded: What to Wear to an Office Party from one of our fave magazines, Fashion. Now, please do keep in mind that the items in this gallery are high end – actually some of them are beyooooond high end – but that’s ok. It’s, as they say, the thought that counts, and you can definitely take some of their ideas and swap them out for more affordable substitutes. No harm, no foul. Sometimes it’s just nice to see an outfit and think “Aww yeah, I can do that!”

If your gathering is a wee bit more dressy, you might want to head on over to HuffPost Style for Holiday Dresses 2016: Festive Frocks To Help You Get Your Party On

Now this is what we’re talking about! Lots of ideas, some gorgeous looks, a wide range of prices, and – be still our collective hearts – a wide range of sizes too. So great!

Harper’s Bazaar also has a pretty comprehensive and glamorous list in their Style Tips for Holiday Party Season, with a roundup of hot looks from red carpets and celebrity style. Blogger’s note: THOSE VELVETEEN SUITS!!! Heart eyes emoji for days! If you invest and rock a velveteen suit this holiday season, please please send us photos. This is a festive trend that needs to stick around!

Still feeling the need for even more inspiration? What about classic holiday and Christmas movies? Wait now, hear us out! Vogue has a list of 9 Classic Christmas Movies to Inspire Your Festive Fashion Shopping. From the classic clothes of It’s a Wonderful Life or A Christmas Carol, to the gaudy and overdone outfits in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, you too can take a page from Hollywood and embrace your inner George or Mary Bailey, or get your Griswold on this season, if you desire!

Whatever you decide to wear, we hope you have a smashing time at any and all of your holiday parties! And, as always, we want to see…even if it’s not a velveteen suit…
