Good morning, and Happy Tuesday!
Does it feel like spring out there to you? It certainly doesn’t feel much like winter! Sure there is a bit of a wind chill, and that rain is COLD when it comes down. But it’s definitely not the winter we are used to in this part of the world. And while there are some pros to a milder winter – less or no shoveling of the white stuff, and no snow at all to trudge through. We also might see slight reductions in heating bills, and we can sometimes even get away with a lighter coat, and no hat head to ruin our good hair days – there are some definite cons as well.
The downside to this west coast-type winter, while it stays, is that the dampness, rain, and the crazy FOG that we’ve been seeing lately can do a real number on our hair. And while a bit of moisture in the air is good for us, and especially good for our skin, our hair can really suffer. How many of you have waved the white flag lately when it comes to getting out the flat iron? Lots of hands raised, we’ll bet! It’s futile when the air is just saturated with water, and there’s little we can do about it. Everything’s great while you’re inside, but honey, all bets are off when you step out the door into that wall of moisture, in whatever form it decides to take on any given day!
If you’re struggling to get your hair to behave itself this winter, take a look at some of the great Aveda How-To videos featured on aveda.ca. These are short, easy to follow tutorials on some of the best looks out there, and so many of them are fantastic for this kind of wet weather! Think messy bun, scrunchy curls, braids, and more. It’s tough to force your hair into doing something it just isn’t cut out for, and that old saying “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” is perfect for situations like this! Why suffer through a rough hair day when you can let your hair be in charge and work with it, instead of against it! It’s the perfect arrangement for any day when you look outside and think “Really? More fog?!?”
Aveda’s YouTube channel is another great source of inspiration for some fun, easy, and wet weather-friendly hair ideas, and it’s updated regularly to keep you up to date on the latest tips and tricks.
So until we get a proper winter back here in southern Ontario, rely on Aveda’s mini video workshops to help you get through. Who knows, you might just find your new go-to style and look, thanks to the rain and the crazy winter fog!
Happy styling, friends! See you Friday!
