It’s Tuesday, and the MTV VMAs were Sunday night. Let’s get right to it, shall we?
Here at the Willow Salon blog we LOVE a good link roundup, particularly when it has to do with fashion, hair, and makeup. And you just know that an awards show is going to have all that, plus a few surprises.
Did you watch the awards? Did you have a favourite performance, acceptance speech, or red carpet look? There seemed – from the reports of our fave news outlets – to be a lot going on during the show, lots of positive moments, and well-deserved winners.
But for the purposes of the blog, let’s break down some of the red carpet photos and see if any of your picks for best-dressed/best coiffed – or at least most interestingly dressed/coiffed – make our list.
PopSugar kicks it off with their See Every Look From the MTV VMAs, and we are giving a big thumbs up to the very first celeb on their page! Demi Lovato’s look was fantastic! From those flowing dark tresses to that sheer and glittery top, right to the classic-looking culotte-trousers, she was all class. Well played on her part, she looked so great.
Keep scrolling through the PopSugar gallery for more, including Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, in a futuristic-looking midnight blue dress with what seemed to be made of tiny mirrors, giving it a shimmery, reflective effect that was out of this world. (Heh….no doubt you get the joke…) To top it off her sleek, pulled back hair do was the perfect match for the dress.
Vogue also has a fabulous gallery of looks, and they’re going with their top picks MTV VMAs 2017: The Best Dressed Celebrities on the Red Carpet. They are going with host Katy Perry as their first best-dressed pick, which is a solid choice. Katy keeps it subdued in a structured white gown, and blonde pixie cut.
Oh, and we are definitely feeling Pink in a menswear-inspired ensemble looking relaxed and chill – such a smart look on her!
Vogue also highlights the one and only Nicki Minaj in her seemingly painted-on latex unitard. Nicki is never one to shy away from something dramatic on the red carpet and this completely fits the bill. Her sleek, straight peachy-toned hair was a nice complement to the outfit, making it seem not too overdone. You know, not too overdone!
And finally, if you really want to dig deep, check out Vulture for over 130 red carpet photos! Some of the same ones we’ve featured, but a lot more too. You’ll definitely get your celeb fashion fix here.
Keep an eye on what you saw on the red carpet Sunday night, and what you’ll see on future red carpets this awards season, because we’ll often see a lot of those looks – or parts of them – as trends for upcoming seasons. Now of course not all of us can rock the pink latex unitard, so we may not see that creeping into stores and malls, but you can be sure lots of the colours, the fabric types, and more will be making their way to us regular folks at some point.
Enjoy flipping through the fashions, friends. Chat with you again on Friday!
