We are down to the final few days of 2018’s Earth Month, but there are still ways you can learn about Aveda’s commitment to helping provide clean water for those without, and ways you can help.
Today we want to introduce – or reintroduce – you to WaterAid Canada, the organization responsible for bringing life-sustaining water to areas that struggle. From the Collega website:
“WATERAID IS A LEADING CANADIAN CHARITY DEDICATED TO FIGHTING GLOBAL POVERTY BY HELPING THE WORLD’S POOREST PEOPLE GAIN ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER, BASIC SANITATION AND HYGIENE EDUCATION.”
And the addition of sanitation and education to this description is important. Sometimes we tend to think of bringing water to a community in really basic terms. Like, establishing a pump, well, or other reservoirs in a central area for the residents of a town or village. And that’s definitely part of it, but education surrounding the importance of hygiene, and sanitation and their bearing on the health and well-being of the citizens of that town is equally – if not more – important.
We encourage you to visit the Collega Earth Month website where you can find out more about the work of Aveda and WaterAid, or visit WaterAid’s own website for even more information and ways to help or get involved.
Water IS life, and we salute the organizations dedicated to providing and sustaining life in underdeveloped areas of the world.
And while Earth Month is drawing to a close, we also encourage you to consider ways you can keep your dedication to water conservation going throughout the rest of the year. Little things like having shorter showers, skipping a day or two between shampooing, collecting water for your garden in a rain barrel, or getting involved in water conservation projects in your area. All these seemingly small, individual strategies, when combined, can make a much larger difference in the world.
Switching gears a just little bit now, we want to remind you of our Spring event Willow & Tulips, happening next week to kick off the month of May! It’s all going down on Tuesday, May 1st, and space is limited so please send your RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org so we can hold your spot!
Have a lovely weekend, friends. Do something nice for the environment in this last week of Earth Month, and make sure you do something nice for yourself too. See you back here Tuesday!
